Big Rock Candy Mountain

Lisa Congdon is an artist and illustrator from San Francisco. Her most recent installation, "Life in Wonder Mountain," is a gorgeous marriage of opposing forces: the drab and the fantastic, reality and whimsy. Appalachian ancestors become crystal prisms, deflecting geometric neon rays from their heads, while grandma's antique doilies create kaleidoscopic spider webs from the ceiling and the walls. I especially love the way the antique tans and beiges contrast with the electric oranges, pinks, and blues.
